ArcGIS GeoEvent Server has two Java processes on both the Windows and Linux operating systems.
Windows
You can expect to see the following operating system processes on any ArcGIS GeoEvent Server machine that is started and participating in a site on the Windows operating system.
- One ArcGISGeoEvent.exe process
- One ArcGIS GeoEventGateway.exe process
You can tell that a javaw.exe process is associated with ArcGIS GeoEvent Server by looking at the Command Line column in Windows Task Manager. If the path includes the ArcGIS installation directory, you know it's a process associated with ArcGIS GeoEvent Server. You can derive further information about each process by examining its full command.
The Windows service ArcGIS GeoEvent Server represents ArcGIS GeoEvent Server itself. Stopping this service effectively stops the ArcGIS GeoEvent Server on the machine and shuts down any running instances.
Linux
You can expect to see the following operating system processes on any ArcGIS GeoEvent Server machine that is started and participating in a site on the Linux operating system.

- One process for ArcGISGeoeventGateway-service
